Etalim Inc. is dedicated to finding ways of efficiently generating and using energy. Our name says it all “Pushing η (eta, the conventional symbol for efficiency) to the limit”.

The age of inexpensive plentiful energy is rapidly coming to a close as the earth's store of fossil fuels is being depleted at an ever increasing rate. In many ways fossil fuels have been a great gift to humanity, freeing people from the drudgery of manual labour and allowing the creation of the modern global economy which provides interesting work and a comfortable life for a great many people. However, it has come at the price of widespread environmental degradation and is clearly non-sustainable. It is thus imperative that alternatives be found and that this be done quickly.

There will be no simple, single solution to reducing and eventually eliminating our dependence on fossil fuels. A whole range of options needs to be pursued for power generation including wind power, solar power, geothermal power, expanded hydro power, biofuels, cogeneration and reluctantly even nuclear. Great strides must also be made in the efficient use of available forms of energy.

Etalim is developing a fundamentally new method of converting heat to electricity, with extraordinary efficiency, simplicity and low cost. The Etalim device can draw its input heat from concentrated sunlight, or the combustion of any fuel including renewable biomass.
