 Robust Embedded Power.

The Etalim TAC H10 is currently in beta trials across a number of applications. The TAC H10 is a 1 kW generator powered by natural gas. Other application-specific TAC variants are currently in development.

Etalim is working with leading industrial OEM partners, who will develop and market complete system solutions based on the Etalim TAC component. Etalim and partners are focused on three distinct applications:

Remote Power Systems

The Etalim TAC generator is uniquely suited to generate power in remote industrial settings where maintenance-free reliability is critical.  The TAC can combust a variety of atypical or low quality fuel sources to efficiently produce the heat needed to make electric power.  The TAC operates at efficiencies near 30% for most fuels, and the generator set runs maintenance-free for 20 years.  This brings major operating cost benefits to power generation applications in remote or mission-critical environments.

Waste Heat Recovery

Traditional engines in trucks and cars waste two-thirds of fuel energy as unproductive heat. The Etalim TAC can recover waste heat from a vehicle's exhaust, and convert that heat to electricity with high efficiency and reliability. This saves the vehicle's alternator from consuming fuel to generate electricity. The Etalim TAC can improve the overall fuel economy of the vehicle by about 4%. Vehicle manufacturers are under increasing pressure to meet stringent greenhouse gas emissions regulations in important global markets, and Etalim's waste heat recovery technology can go a long way towards meeting this challenge. Etalim is working with major automotive manufacturers to develop this groundbreaking solution.

Similar waste heat recovery opportunities exist in many industrial settings, and Etalim's technology can make major contributions to energy efficiency in these industries by converting waste heat to valuable power.

Micro-CHP

Micro Combined Heat and Power (micro-CHP) systems are essentially a home heating furnace or boiler that co-generates electricity in addition to heat. Conventional grid electricity generation is highly inefficient, with as little as 30% of the energy in the fuel  becoming electricity in the home. The rest of the energy is wasted as heat in the power station, with a small amount lost in transmission across the grid. Micro-CHP systems use natural gas (or other fuels) to generate both electricity and heat at the point of use, with overall efficiency of more than 90%. This is possible because waste heat from electricity generation is captured and used within the home.

Micro-CHP offers homeowners several hundred dollars in energy bill savings per year. Utilities and governments are strongly advocating micro-CHP because it can increase overall power generation capacity without expensive capital equipment and transmission investment, while reducing the carbon footprint of an average home by 1 tonne per year or more.
